De laatste versie van de infographic over de Eerste Wereldoorlog, met referentiemateriaal er onder. Mijn onderwerp is herdenking, en het in perspectief brengen van het aantal slachtoffers onder de soldaten. Dit heb ik gedaan door niet alleen de nummers, maar ook de percentages en feiten neer te zetten.
Elke soldaat staat voor een land, en ze dragen ook het uniform van dit land. Ik heb voor elk uniform een kleine pagina gemaakt met references, omdat uniformen een groot herkenningspunt zijn per land. Voor sommige landen heb ik bepaalde keuzes moeten maken; Rusland, bijvoorbeeld, had toentertijd duizenden verschillende uniformen. Voor de Fransen heb ik het uniform van de Senegalese soldaten (Tirailleurs Sénégalais) gebruikt, maar wel met de Adrianhelm die de Franse soldaat droeg.

The final version of the infographic on World War 1, and used references below. My subject was remembrance, and putting in perspective just how many casualties the war caused. Not only did I mention the sheer numbers in the infographic, but I also incorporated the percentages and small facts to make the "numbers" more human.
Every soldier represents a country, with matching uniforms. I created a page for each uniform with references so I could portray them as accurately as possible -- this, I felt, was very important, as uniforms often were unique per country. I had to make choices on what and what not to draw; the Russian Empire, for example, had thousands of different uniforms at the time. I also didn't use the standard French uniform, but instead went for the Senegalese uniform, but swapped the cap for the iconic Adrian helmet.
